This year’s Annual Legislative Seminar, held on May 7, marked the event’s 25th anniversary and featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including 19 members of the Senate and the House who addressed issues, such as federal tax reform, the federal budget, implementation of the Affordable Care Act and proposed legislation addressing patent reform. The event, which drew a crowd of nearly 300, was hosted by the firm’s Government Policy team and co-sponsored by the Federal Policy Group and The Yale Club of Washington.

A video highlighting healthcare topics discussed at the seminar features Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who spoke about healthcare costs, Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.Dak.), who addressed the challenges of the Medicaid program and Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), who addressed the importance of patient-centered reforms and the need to expand choices in the marketplace. Also included in the video is Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who talked about the nation’s healthcare and stressed how one’s life expectancy is affected by his or her zip code. The afternoon prior to the Annual Legislative Seminar, the Firm’s healthcare policy team's invited clients and guests also attended a unique roundtable session with senior Hill staff to discuss FDA regulatory and policy changes that likely will be addressed in the next round of user fees reauthorization legislation.
